What ArtLens does
Upload or paste a link to any image and ArtLens evaluates it against the seven elements of art and seven principles of art, returning:
- A score out of 10 for each of the 14 dimensions
- A written assessment for each dimension
- An overall composite score and summary
- A downloadable HTML analysis report
Elements of Art
ArtLens scores each of the following formal elements:
- Line — the marks and edges that define form and direction
- Shape — enclosed two-dimensional areas within the composition
- Colour — hue, saturation, and temperature relationships
- Texture — actual or implied surface quality
- Value — the range from light to dark tones
- Space — positive and negative areas and the illusion of depth
- Form — three-dimensional mass and volume
Principles of Art
ArtLens also evaluates how elements are organized through the seven principles:
- Balance — distribution of visual weight across the composition
- Contrast — difference between opposing elements
- Emphasis — focal points that attract and hold attention
- Movement — the path the eye follows through the composition
- Pattern — repeated elements or motifs
- Rhythm — repetition that creates a sense of visual movement
- Unity — the feeling that all parts belong together
Who is ArtLens for?
ArtLens is designed for art students, visual arts educators, photographers, designers, and anyone who wants to understand or teach the formal elements and principles of art.
How analysis works
Scores are computed algorithmically from computer-vision features including colour histograms, edge detection, spatial frequency analysis, texture descriptors, and composition heuristics. They represent a computational interpretation of an image's formal visual properties and are not a substitute for human art-critical judgment.
